Duties & Responsibilities:
• Address overall compliance-related requirements of safety programs, including:
o Provide interpretation of applicable regulations and standards;
o Conduct new employee/contractor training/testing, and other training;
o Conduct inspections and audits;
o Test and maintain, as applicable, plant safety equipment; and
o Complete required internal and external reporting and recordkeeping.
• Implement programs associated with applicable health and safety standards, including, but not limited to: Process Safety Management, HAZWOPER, incident investigation/root cause analysis, hazard assessment, and behavioral based safety.
• Coordinate the facility‘s personal protective equipment program, including reviews, procedure updates, safety shoe and safety glasses program, etc.
• Conduct incident investigation and near-miss follow-up with employees.
• Coordinate first aid, CPR, and 24 hour HAZWOPER training for all affected employees.
• Conduct select plant industrial hygiene activities; manage the annual employee physical program and fit-for-duty tracking and recordkeeping.

Skills, Qualifications, Experience, Special Physical Requirements:
• Bachelor’s or Associates degree in safety related field and a minimum of three (3) years relevant experience required; or a Bachelor’s or Associates degree in EHS related field with a safety certification (i.e., Certified Safety Professional or Associate Safety Professional) and a minimum of two (2) years relevant experience required; or five (5) or more years’ experience as a Safety Specialist in a similar manufacturing environment required.
• Experience with conducting safety training programs.
• Well-developed organizational, written and verbal communication skills, including being capable of making group presentations.
• Ability to effectively interface with management, production operators, professional people, contractors, and outside agencies.
• Ability to walk and climb stairs as needed to interact within the Plant on a daily basis and to lift and/or move 50 pounds at any time, and wear a respirator.
• Strong PC skills and be comfortable utilizing Microsoft Office, Outlook, and other required software.
• Demonstrated experience as a self-starter that can perform and complete their duties with minimal supervision and set and achieve challenging goals and perform problem solving that leads to solutions that deliver success.
