Position Summary

Develop, establish, then manage relationships with suppliers through best sourcing practices; build relationships with campus personnel to achieve the role of the Purchasing & Travel office in the procurement process; negotiating contractual terms that support BYU-Idaho needs and promote the mission of the university and acting as its agent; protect the tithing funds and minimize risk by careful management of spend in areas of responsibility.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience
This position requires seasoned contract negotiation and relationship management skills, with mastery of supply chain principles generally acquired through a bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain management or related discipline, plus 8 years of professional work experience, or a master’s degree in a business field with similar professional disciplines plus 5 years of professional work experience.

Exhibit strong interpersonal communication
Understand the needs of internal customers
Leverage existing Church contracts
Demonstrate experience with high-dollar projects
Understand IT processes and contracts (preferred)
License or Certification: Strongly desired Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) or Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) or equivalent credentials.

Work Schedule
Generally, Monday through Friday, 8am-5pm. Additional hours may be required, including weekends and evenings, based on supplier availability and project needs. Travel will be required to meet with various contract suppliers, perform product site visits, source products, and attend training to maintain industry certification. Special circumstances in the work schedule (e.g., travel, shift work, weekend/holiday work, on-call, other).
